Description: The updated Elk City Sandstone aquifer extent was created for the Hydrologic Investigation of the Elk City Sandstone aquifer in West Oklahoma, using geologic maps and well logs from the OWRB database. The boundary is based on the geologic contact between the Elk City Sandstone and the Doxey Shale, except where the Ogallala Formations overlies the Elk City Sandstone in the northwest portion of the aquifer where the extent is based on areas where the subcropping Elk City Sandstone has been identified in well driller reports and utilized by local water users. In this area, the exent follows section lines. This dataset is tentative and pending Board approval for permitting use.
